Our History

Willoughby Industries was founded in 1947 on the southwest side of Indianapolis. Over the next 65 years, we expanded our operations and established a second location near the Indianapolis airport. In 2012, we consolidated our locations and moved to our current home on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Willoughby Locking Systems was founded in 2023, after recognizing the correctional industry's need for high quality detention locks supported by unmatched customer service.

Legacy of Leadership

Willoughby Industries is a third-generation, family owned business, with the fourth generation already in place. Our leadership journey began with Ray Willoughby (1947-1987), followed by Tim Willoughby (1987-2004) and currently Craig Alderson (2004-present). Craig, the husband of Tim's eldest daughter, Kathy, joined the company in January of 1995. Their sons, Will and Nick Alderson  joined the family business after completing their college education, continuing the legacy of leadership.

Answering The Call

Although the Willoughby story began with sheet metal production, over the decades we honed our expertise to become the largest security plumbing fixture manufacturer, by volume, in the U.S.. Our plumbing products can be found internationally and within all 50 states, including 18 of the last 20 federal correctional facilities and most Indiana state correctional facilities. So, when the corrections industry sought out a trusted, reliable manufacturer for locks, it was only natural to answer the call!
